Movie Group
Movie Group meets on the first Tuesday of the month. (This is because there is no Tuesday Forum on the first Tuesday, hence those people not in Probus are free to attend.) We go to the Palace Cinema in Byron to watch a movie that starts at around 10am.
Susan, our convenor, chooses a movie and notifies members via email. The Palace movies are published weekly on Thursday. Susan makes a choice depending on lots of factors, including theme, interest, ratings, start time and duration. Because of these factors we often see movies that we would never have considered otherwise. The movies are often, but not always, arthouse so there is lots to discuss afterwards.
Susan emails members of the Movie Group mailing list, usually on the weekend prior, regarding details of the upcoming movie. Please contact Susan if you would like to be on this mailing list.
Most members choose to stay on afterwards to discuss the themes of the movie over lunch at the nearby Byron Services Club. Others may need to go straight home after the movie – that works too.
